What is coaching?

Coaching is the art of accessing the performance, learning and development of another. A former client described what coaching meant for her:

"Coaching helps me to define where I want to go and gets me there faster and more easily than if I worked on my own."

"There are enough mediocre people in this world to last us for the rest of mankind's history without people who have ability selling themselves short."

Brian Clough

The main purpose of coaching is to empower you to take control of every aspect of your life, along with acceptance of your personal responsibility that is an integral part of such control. I will show you how to do this and I will guide you every step of the way.

How can coaching help me?

In today's competitive, fast paced world we face challenges, decisions, dilemmas and opportunities on a daily basis. How we respond to these will affect how we feel about ourselves and our lives.

Whether you come to coaching to make changes in your life or simply to do things differently, receiving professional support is a proactive way to ensure your success.

What is the difference between Life Coaching, Career Coaching and Executive Coaching?

The principles are exactly the same. The only difference between these forms of coaching is the specific requirement of the individual and the environment in which coaching takes place. I work with individuals inside and outside of organisations and almost always, their life issues affect their work just as their work issues affect their lives. The key to success for my clients, in whatever context, is the realisation that they are unique individuals who want to make changes in their lives. I help clients identify what their true goals are and together we work to achieve them as quickly as possible by re-assessing limiting beliefs and expectations.

Why have a coach?

As your coach, I can boost your personal development in the most powerful way possible - by empowering you to help yourself and achieve your goals. Together we can identify your true values, find out what makes you happy, increase your confidence and self esteem, while reducing the fear, obstacles, self doubt and excuses that have prevented you from making the change and moving forward.

How does coaching differ from counselling?

Coaching differs from counselling in a simple, yet very significant way. In many situations, counselling will look to the past to prescribe an appropriate solution to an individuals problem. Although I will have a clear understanding about how your past has created your present situation, my coaching sessions will focus on where you are now and more importantly, where you want to be.

What is wrong with talking to my family or friends?

Nothing! I am from a very close family myself and appreciate that they will always be there to provide support. However, we must understand that your family or best friends will often tell you what you want to hear to try and justify your remarks. In my experience, when we talk to our close friends or family, it is usually because we want the comfort of somebody confirming our negative thoughts. As your coach, I want and expect the very best for you. I will not waste my time and your money purely to give you sympathy. I expect results because I believe that you are a strong, motivated individual who wants to achieve the best possible results.
